How quickly is Annovera effective after I insert it?

Last updated on August 20, 2020

If you insert Annovera between days 2 and 5 of your menstrual period, it becomes effective on the day that it is inserted. If Annovera is inserted more than 5 days from when you started your menstrual period, it becomes effective 7 days after you insert it. During those 7 days, you should also use another form of backup contraception to prevent pregnancy, such as a male condom or internal condom.
