Emergency Contraception: ella

How do I get back on birth control after taking ella?

Last updated on August 31, 2020

You should wait at least 5 days until after you’ve taken ella to start taking your hormonal birth control again (you could also opt to wait until the beginning of your next cycle). Once you re-start your hormonal birth control, you should use a backup method (such as a condom) for 7 days, until you are protected from pregnancy again.
