Norethindrone 0.35mg oral tablet

Norethindrone 0.35mg oral tablet

Norethindrone, also referred to as the “mini-pill” because it only contains progestin, is an oral contraceptive pill. Because it only contains progestin, it’s a good option for women who can’t take estrogen, and it may cause fewer side effects (e.g. bloating, mood swings, weight gain) compared to estrogen-containing pills. Progestin-only pills must be taken at the same time every day to maintain pregnancy protection. Their effectiveness decreases more drastically than that of combination pills if taken irregularly. Put another way, while both types of pills are quite effective if taken regularly, progestin-only pills are less forgiving if you miss or forget a pill. Keep in mind, oral contraceptive pills do not protect against STIs (sexually transmitted infections)—only condoms do that!
